"This is financial advisoir, Patrick Munro, talking about how to prevent identity theft. Identity theft especially in this economy that we're in right now is becoming an emerging problem for millions of Americans. The bad guys, if you will, are becoming more and more creative and of course, they are sending out emails to people that posing as their bank to try and get social security numbers, etc., and individuals desperate for financial solutions are responding and giving out critical information and therefore becoming victims of identity theft. Perhaps the most insidious that I've heard of recently is that there are individuals that now have RFID scanners which are infrared scanners that you can come up behind someone who has a wallet in their back pocket and with this device it will scan without touching the individual, and capture all the incoming magnetic strips and cards and data from your credit cards. And therefore download them at a later time, there they got all your information, they're good to go. Make sure you find a way to get a sheath that will deflect these RFID scanners and therefore give the bad guys or run for their money if you will. Identity theft is a growth industry and you need to stay ahead of the curve. This is financial advisor, Patrick Munro, talking about how to prevent identity theft."
