"Hi, I'm Charlie, your outdoor expert. So you're thinking about going camping, and you don't really know what kind of tent there is, you've gone to the store, and looked down the isle and you see there's hundreds, or maybe thousands of different kinds of tents, shapes...you really don't know which one's right for you. One thing to consider, how many people are going to go camping and the weight to the tent. Now this tent, right here, is, I don't know, not really ideal for hiking, but if you really wanted to, it's a very short hike, it'd do pretty fine 'cause it's not that heavy. It's at least about maybe in the five to ten pound range. Usually when you go hiking, you want something more in the three to five range because you're going to just be going for miles everyday and setting up camp. Also if you're going to go hiking with a nice, light three to five pound hiking tent, you gotta keep in mind, you're also going to be carrying food, water, and other sleeping gear, plus your extra clothing. The size of the tent will determine how many people. If you look on the little tag and it says "three person tent," it's really a one person tent because you gotta think about your gear and the spacing. A lot of the time, those diagrams will have sleeping bags shoved all the way up against the the tent. In a nylon tent, you really don't want to be up close to the tent, you at least want to leave a nice gap because what will happen, when there's moisture in the area, the nylon and something's touching the nylon, that water will get inside that tent, unless you've got a nice tent with a tub. Those you might be able to get a little bit more but I still wouldn't do it just to be on the safe side. Of course, the bigger the tent, the more expensive it's going to be, vice versa, if it's a light-weight tent, it might cost about as much as say like a huge tent that'll fit ten people. It's just about the way it's made and the durability 'cause also durability depends on how you treat your tent. You should try and treat your tent as gentle as possible 'cause you want it to last for years. It's a good sound investment for your outdoor activities."
