"Hi I'm Donna Barnes, life and relationship coach here in New York City and the author of It's All About You. Getting back together after a breakup can feel so romantic and so wonderful to be together again but if you're really going to make the relationship work, you have to find out why it broke in the first place, there was a reason. So if you don't really attack that problem, breakups are great, if it really gave you a platform to talk about an issue and really specifically discuss something that really obviously was growing wrong, it broke you up. If you can overcome that and change that, then you can happily get back together and maybe continue and have a wonderful relationship. But, if nothing like that's going to happen and it's going to go back to being the same thing it was before, you're only going to breakup again so then it's just reopening that wound again. It's going to keep you attached to that person and it's so not healthy and you're never going to move on and find somebody else. So getting back together with an ex is not a good idea unless it's opened up a dialog and a conversation of something that's going to change in the relationship that's going to make it happy, otherwise move on and find somebody better."
