"Hi, I'm Donna Barnes, Life and Relationship coach here in New York City and the author of, "It's All About You". The best break up speeches are the ones that come from the heart, that are true, and that do not blame the other person. If you come from a place of, "Well, you know, this didn't work for me. That didn't work for me," like you know, yeah you're going to hurt their feelings and it's going to be harder for you to say that. It's the whole "It's not you, it's me" thing but that's really the best place that you can come from and it's also the best thing that they can't fight you on. If you know for sure that you want to end this relationship, if you come from a place of, "Well, you know it doesn't work for me that you do this," they're automatically going to say, "I can change. I can do that differently." And they're going to fight you and they're going to want another chance. If you really truly want to end it, then just say, "I really feel that I'm not happy in this relationship, it's not going in the direction that I want and I need to be by myself for a while." Do not tell them you want to be with somebody else. You don't need to hurt them that way, even if that's the truth. Just really tell them that it's not working for you. If you really feel that they can take the constructive criticism, then give it to them, but otherwise just really make it about you. And, try not to hurt them too badly."
