Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Donna Barnes, life and relationship coach here in New York City, and the author of It's All About You. Creative ways to break up with a boyfriend could include anything from sending him a note to letting him see you on a date with somebody else. I mean, in looking for a creative way, it's better that you really just be honest and come flat out and tell them, but if it's because you're afraid and you don't know how else to do it, then yeah, maybe mail him a letter or send him a note or something that really kind of... Leave something somewhere that he'll discover it and find out. Or I think...you know, or maybe if you really like the person, but it's just not working out, then if there's something that you think would be fun for him to do, go take him on that. And in the middle of doing it, then say, "You know what? I think we have such a great friendship and this friendship is great, but I think that's where I need to leave it." And try to make it a positive experience. You know, breaking up can be such a painful thing, but if you can really make them feel good about themselves in a different way, then that might be a nice way to break up with them. That might be a fun thing to do. It says, "You're a good person. We're just not right for each other.""
