"Hi, my name is Robert Cook, and I'm here today to give you some information on computer careers. There are many, many different computer careers out there, reaching from IT to graphic design, to web design, and also computer programming. These higher level careers do require many years of training, usually, and quite a few years of experience. However, the types of programs that I teach at Martinez Adult Education require just very minimal training, and some basic skill sets. These particular programs that I teach are Quick Books, and the Microsoft Office programs with in the Microsoft Office Suite. Those would include Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Outlook. The Microsoft Office Suite programs actually are very essential if you're going to be embarking on any career in an office environment, and primarily those careers would be an office technician, office assistant, executive administrative assistant, and so on and so forth. By having these skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, you can basically format and create documents, letters memos, you can also edit and create various work sheets and spread sheets for financial, or any other types of data. Also, working with Access would give you data analysis, and data base skills. The Outlook program is a fantastic email and task management, and calendar program. And last, but not least, the Power Point program is a great slide show program for setting up and facilitating meetings, and various training. The other program that I teach is Quick Books, and along with some basic accounting experience, Quick Books is a very good program, probably the most widely used financial program out there for electronic accounting, and by having Quick Book experience, this would give you various entry, entry level points for accounting technician, book keeper, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections. And again, those are all entry level positions that require very minimal experience."
