"Fashion merchandising jobs are something that we probably are all familiar with but we don't actually know the technical specifications for it. Fashion merchandisers are in charge of the retail stores and, or the displays that either the department stores or boutiques have in their windows that attract the customers. And they are people who draw people in to walk into the store and possibly buy things. Fashion merchandising they usually have a requirement of two years of marketing or fashion design and it's also a job that you actually could work up from just working at the retail store and you have to be very creative, learn how to work with colors, know the seasons, know what is coming up, work with the clients and for portraying what they want to feel. And you do have a sense of when you are in fashion merchandising, you are styling. You're styling mannequins, you're making people feel like this is who they are and who they want to be and you're trying to get them to sell or purchase more products of buying this whole ensemble or buying each of the piece. Fashion designers should have a good eye, good use of color combinations, shapes and just style for what they would to portray for their clients, what the design of their windows. For me, going into these different boutiques it's usually the display on the windows, when going down Beverly Hills or Melrose or any of these shops, there's 100's to choose from but which display is the one that's most appealing to me. Which one draws me in to choose from and that's how with everyday people is you have so many to choose from and so which of them are you going to go into. So a fashion merchandiser is really important to usually a successful company or successful business as far as producing sales and if that company should still continue to make sales. So this is just a few things that a fashion merchandiser does."
