"How to make tattoo ink stick to a needle? A lot of people are under the misconception, that think the tattoo ink is actually injected into the skin and that's not correct. The pigment doesn't actually stick to the needle, that's the really you don't want that to happen. The needle slides in and out of the tube here and the pigment stores when you tip your machine into the ink cap, hit the felt switch, the suction from the needle goin' up and down draws pigment up into this reservoir. Once you got that filled up when you hit the felt switch and touch down on the skin, when that needle touches the skin, that ink releases. So it's what you, it's a gravity fed operation so there's no injecting of ink at all. It just the gravity from the machine being held up, the needle touches the skin, the pigment starts to run out then that's when you start to move your hand along the major line but the pigment does not actually stick to the tattoo needle."
