"A lot of times people become financial planners simply because they want to learn more about this stuff from a selfish personal perspective, that was me. Years ago I have been married 36 years. Years ago my wife and I went through a financial melt down and I had that significant emotional experience and it was not fun. I have never had problems earning a living but my problems was my spending habits and so it is kind of like Katie Couric talks about colon cancer because her husband died of it. My mom and dad were depression babies and of course they never borrowed any money, and so on and so forth so you are who you were when this significant thing happened to you. I also am a giver type person. I like the thought that I can make a difference in other people's lives and good advice in terms of money is something that is intensely personal and in a lot of cases you have to, well people would almost rather talk about their bedroom habits than their money in some cases. You ask people how they are doing around here and they say fine, malarkey, we know better. There is a tremendous need for good unbiased, and unbiased financial help. Now how can I be unbiased? I have to be in a position where I can pay for my time regardless of what the advice ends up being with the person and so that would be an I am more of a financial strategist than a financial planner, I don't like the designation planner because even though every man needs a plan we need strategies too, longer term strategies so that is the reasons that I like to be a financial planner because obviously what flows through you will stick to you. Learning all of this stuff helping people I can apply it to my own life and so I am a little bit more comfortable in my financial skin. I found out that me and Bill Gates and everybody out there are all going to leave this place the same way we came, right? We're just passing through and we're just going to be good stewards if we can be."
