"Hi my name is David Pearson, president of AVA Home Media Systems in Jupiter, Florida and I'm going to talk to you about wireless security systems. Wireless security systems consists of wireless transmitters, wireless motion detectors and even wireless keypads. A wireless system would consist of a transmitter at each door and window attached to a security contact, the transmitter reports back into the central command which is the master panel. Generally located somewhere in the laundry room. A wireless security system is great for a small house between 3,000 square feet. When you get to the larger houses, it's not, it doesn't work quite as well because of the range and distance. You're probably looking at around 100 feet total distance. You can also have wireless motion detectors. A wireless motion detector would pickup an intruder if you happen to break glass and walk into the house without opening the door or window. A good wireless system is a supervised wireless system meaning that the transmitters report into the master panel on a constant basis so you know that the panel and the door and windows, wireless system are talking to each other. For example if you were to add a mirror in a room or mirror a wall, sometimes that'll reflect the signal and it won't be talking or if the batteries get low in the transmitters, you would know, but a supervised one keeps track of the battery strength and whether it's reporting in or not. Wireless systems are a little more expensive then a hardwired system but it's a lot more easier to add especially if you're in a two story house where there's no attic space. So now you know a little more about wireless security systems."
