"Hi my name is David Pearson, president of AVA Home Media Systems. I'm here to talk about central station monitoring for your security system. Central station monitoring is great for the security system because that lets the police know if someone was to break in the house. There are two types of monitoring, through your telephone line, the hard line, all the security system does is tap into your phone line with line seizure and if the alarm was to go off, it seizes the phone line and calls the central station. The central station will then call the house just to make sure it wasn't a mistake, you didn't let the dog out or set the siren off to avoid false alarms. If you were to answer at the house, the central station asks for your pass code, most people pick a word or a number, something they can remember in a pinch and that is not considered a false alarm. If no one was to answer the phone, they will go ahead and dispatch the local police department. Once the police are dispatched, they will call the central station and ask for your homeowners call list and they'll go down and call you at work, call a friend or a neighbor, someone that might be able to take care of a broken door or window. Cellular monitoring is also becoming more popular now because a lot of people don't have a hard line, they just are working off their cellphones. Cellular is a little more expensive but again, if you don't have a phone line, that's the only way you can go. The rates have come down quite a bit so it's getting very competitive now. There is a little more upfront money because you have to buy the cellular transponder to send the signal to your central station. So that's it on central station monitoring, thanks."
