"Hi! This is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training in Miami, Florida. In this clip, we're going to talk to you and show you how to pick up a dog. So, you know, there's different techniques, you know, and of course it depends on what kind of state the dog is in. You know, a normal healthy dog, you should be able to, you know, even a large size dog support her waist and her back side, and keep her chin up, and you can also, you know, hold her by the chin her. Now, if this was a dog you didn't know, let's say, and you're afraid you might get bit but you still wanted to help it up and pick it out, help it out and pick it up, you could muzzle and pick up like that, okay? Alright, muzzle and pick up like that. Push her in trouble, she slips out of that muzzle and wants to bite you. But, one of the other things that you might want to consider is, you know, sometimes for older dogs that have a hard time getting up or they have hip problems, what you can do is if they can help you with the front legs, you can help them to rear with the towel, alright? So, this would, we could we can pick up the hind section from this way and support the front if we need to, okay? But if she had front leg support and she needed back leg support, she could go up with the front and we could help her out with the back. So, it's a great way, you know, to pick up the dogs and it's kind of like a little sling for her, you know. And if the dog was completely unable to get up, you know, you can always make a stretcher with a sheet or a towel like this and come underneath her, and scoop her up with two people. Once again, this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training."
