"Hi! This is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami Dog Training in Miami, Florida. When you're considering picking a dog from the pound, you know, you really want to take into consideration some things and that is, don't pick the dog that has the sad eyes and that you're weak for because your first interaction with that dog is going to be a weak one on your end. You know, I mean of course, you know, they all look sad into some people. When I go to the pound I tend to feel like I'm just happy to be there and give them share a little laugh. So, but when you are picking a dog, you want to look at their history if it is known. You know, people do tend to have a feeling that that their dog may have been abused when they get it from the pound because it's skittish. Some dogs are just skittish. You know, they play a certain role in the pack and that maybe one of the reasons that they got there. So, a lot of times, you know, when you're doing, that obedience can be a great way to take that out of them and really give them some confidence. Don't, you know, some people do have tendency to pick dogs that really need special care, and that's something that they like to be able to give. But try to find the, you know, the healthiest healthiest dog that really clicks with you. Try to find the right size and right energy level for you because that's really what ends up being most important in your relationship is how much energy you have and how versus how much energy the dog has. And a lot of times right at the, you know, when they are at the pound, they don't really, they're not really out of their shell with you. So, when you take 'em home they their behavior starts changing, and depending on how much weakness and energy you show them, they will start taking over. So, those are things to consider when you are thinkin' about getting a dog from the pound. You know, look for the dog that really clicks with you, that really wants to be around you and I think you'd be started off on the right foot."
