"Hi this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami dog training in Miami, Florida. When taking care of your new puppy, one of the very first things that you really want to do is bring it to the vet and make sure it's clear of worms since most puppies do have worms from birth. You know and right off the bat the best time to start training a puppy is the minute they come in to your home. You know and start interacting with you because they are learning from those very first interactions. So starting them off on the right foot is really important. You know if you don't have another dog, if this is your only puppy or your first puppy sometimes it's good because they were raised with a litter of other animals they are used to and they find comfort in hearing your heartbeat. So one of the things that you can do is take a ticking clock wrap it in a towel, something that has your scent on it so that it can really they find comfort in that, the ticking kind of reminds them of the heartbeat and those tend to make them feel more comfortable. If you have you know other dogs sometimes that may not be necessary cause the other dogs kind of fill a void at that moment for them you know and sometimes dogs do tend to take on that kind of adult child role. You know you always want to make sure your puppy has a supply of water throughout the day if you are not there to make sure that it you know to give it it's water. You want to set yourself up with maybe a rabbit feeder, a rabbit water bottle that has a little stem that goes in the cage therefore at least they have something to keep their you know their whistle wet. And what you really want to do is just make sure your puppy is nurtured and safe."
