"Hi this is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg with Miami dog training in Miami, Florida. When you are taking care of an elderly dog you know you really want, the number one thing you want to really keep in mind is their comfort. Of course depending on how old that dog is but you know as they get older they are susceptible to a lot of the same health issues that you know humans are as they get older. And you know my experience with my own mastiff who lived to be ten which is a pretty long time, you know it's a good life for a mastiff was that you know as he got older the weight was making his legs push out to the sides when he would walk on a slippery surface. You know he didn't have the same kind of muscle control so you know there are things that you can, you know products you can give them. There's some, there is one product called show foot that stops their feet from slipping. You know any anti slip or anti skid kind of lotions or material you know sprays that you can put on their paws help them gain some more balance and traction that's always great. Often you know older dogs are plagued with arthritis, and joint and bone pain so you know again, you know just like with humans, anti inflammatory, dermamax or remadil are great anti inflammatory and anti pain medications. There's also glucosamine supplements you can give them. Something that really helps out with the joints and building back the cartilage. Any kind of oils, fish oils, cod liver oils are also great."
