"Well, the proper way to relax African-American hair is first by analyzing your clients hair. There are three different strengths that you can purchase in the store. You would make that, you would make that choice by first determining if your client has fine, medium, or coarse hair. And then from there, you would choose the relaxer based upon your client, based upon your client hair texture. My client uses, would use a mild relaxer because she has fine to medium hair, and to properly apply the relaxer, I would take, would section the hair into four sections. Before doing that, I would make sure that I have all of the tools needed and that would be a cape, your comb, your relaxing creme, your applicator brush or a comb to apply the relaxer. And so to properly apply your relaxer, the easiest way is to section the hair into four sections. After you section your hair into four sections, I would suggest taking half inch subsections and re, and applying the relaxer creme on the front and bottom panel of the hair, of the hair section. Only to the new growth, only. Again, applying the relaxer on the front and the back of the hair panel. Once you're done applying throughout the entire head, you want, would like to leave the relaxer on for an alloted amount of time that the manufacturer suggest it, not longer than. Reason being is because you don't want to over-process and again, by applying the relaxer on the new growth only, that avoids over-processing as well. Once you've done, once you're done processing, you would go and rinse the relaxer creme out and then apply your neutralizing shampoo, shampoo with a neutralizing shampoo twice. Use a another shampoo if you choose, just to soften the hair. Apply your conditioner. Leave your conditioner on from ten, from ten to twenty minutes, rinse and then style the hair as desired and that's how to properly apply a relaxer."
