"So how do you become an enrolled agent? Well if you want to become an enrolled agent you are going to be working with the IRS and with the treasury. You'll want to make sure that you have got the satisfactory academic background in finance, accounting, so forth. You need to be a tax expert and you'll continue of course ongoing training because the tax code is always changing. Then there is the national association of enrolled agents that you'll want to join and that's also going to be the organization in conjunction with the IRS that is going to do your examinations because you will need to pass an examination to show that you are certified, that the US government is actually going to stand behind you as a representative that is actually a tax professional that is going to be able to manage audits for clients who are being brought before the IRS so becoming an enrolled agent is really about your academic background, a lot about your experience and also taking care of your examination with the national association of enrolled agents."
