"How to replace an automotive air filter. Any vehicle that has an engine should have a good clean air filter. The filter's job is to make sure that debris and dust and other particles that floating around in the air don't make it in to the engine. But a dirty air filter can have just as much of a detriment in fuel economy and driveability of the engine so... Most air filter are in a housing such as this. Some of them have clips. This one, particular one, has screws that hold it closed. So we're just going to loosen those screws so that we can get the top off. Lift the lid up to gain access to the filter. The filter comes out as such. And you can see in this case, the filter is quite dirty. This is the kind of debris and the like that blocks a filter and prevents appropriate air flow. Now installation of the filter is exactly the opposite of removing it. We just slip it back into the box, drop the lid back down into place, slip the clamp back over, tighten it up... and then we re-tighten our screws. And that's all there is to it."
