"Hello, my name is Gabriela Garzon at G.G. Image and Etiquette Consulting in Miami, Florida. The type of shoes that you wear for a tuxedo; first they do not need to be shiny anymore. It's not like before where they really needed to be shiny; you know the white and black parts. If you decided to wear those; it's fine; some of them are making; some brands are making them really fashionable looking so you can go with that. But I would prefer if you buy the regular black leather that are slip; you know, slip on type of shoes without the laces because a tuxedo is supposed to be very very formal. You know, if you have no laces; you're making it very very formal. They need to be; they need to have a very thin sole and be that type of leather that it's shiny but not extremely shiny. So they do not need to be patent made; so I would prefer if you stay away from the white and black; if you want to it's fine; but just go ahead and stay away from it and do not choose a patent leather, just choose a shiny leather, slip on with a very very thin sole. Now they're making other colors for tuxedos but basically they are made in black because tuxedos are supposed to be black. Nowadays there's a new trend where they're making they type of white tuxedos; you know, like the white type of parties and all of that and then they're making the type of shoes that would go with the white tuxedo which of course would make them white. If it's going to be white, do not wear patent, just wear regular leather, a little shiny but no patent because the whole white with patent white shoes, it's not going to look nice. So same rules; thin soles, wide, shiny leather, no patent and you know, no laces on the top."
