Becoming a Fashion Stylist

"Hello, my name is Gabriela Garzon of G.G. Image and Etiquette Consulting in Miami, Florida. In order to become a fashion stylist you need to be passionate about fashion, fashion trends. You need to watch shows on TV, everything that has to do with fashion. You have to be able to subscribe to magazines that are all about fashion trends because you really have to keep up with the fashion trends that is why you really need to love this, you really need to just love it, when I see someone and I know that the dress is from a certain designer and it is not because I went to my house and just studied about designers, no it is because I am so passionate about it that when I actually see the TV and I see the magazines, I go to every fashion show that I can attend to. So basically I see this all the time because I love it, I am passionate about it so of course I know it. So when someone asks me I see a purse, I see shoes and I already know which designer they are wearing, the range of the prices, only because I love going to the stores, not necessarily because I am buying everything I see because I would be broke by now but I just go ahead and see whatever designer is coming up, the differences between them, the magazines, the fashion shows when they have new designers coming in not the same old designers. You have to keep up with these trends so becoming a fashion designer is more about being passionate and finding you know some classes, you can take some classes about color about trends, about marketing, about Business 101 because this is a business it is just not about going and dressing someone up, like you know you're are dressing just a Barbie. It is about dressing them up, charging them, doing taxes so it takes a little more than just being passionate but being passionate about fashion trends, it's what will actually make you become a fashion stylist."
