Hi! This is Dr. Christina Peterson, founder of the Oregon Headache Clinic in Portland. Today, we're discussing about stomach migraines. Stomach migraine is another name for abdominal migraine. Abdominal migraine occurs most commonly in children and adolescents, although it can occur in adults as well. Symptoms of this disorder are abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting which can last up to 72 hours. There may or may not be an associated headache or aura. A family history of migraine is common. Individuals who suffer from abdominal migraine not infrequently develop migraine in later life. The age most commonly affected by abdominal migraine is the ages 5-9 years of age. Children may appear either pale or flushed during abdominal migraine attacks.
