"So what are the duties of a financial planner? A financial planner, really the main duty is the best interest of their clients and is to work with their clients in really a very very broad capacity and that is sometimes they are going to need to bring in specialists to look at certain items but you know, in the broadest sense really a financial planner their main duty is to look at the best interests of the client, look at all of their assets, look at their liabilities, look at what they're doing for investing both short term and long term and really what are the client's long term dreams? What do they want to do in the future? So there really is a huge broad spectrum of duties for a financial planner and really the main thing is to on a regular basis be reviewing client's files, make sure that there is nothing that's coming up that needs to be addressed and make sure that the best interests of the clients are being addressed at all times."
