"How to buy used furniture. When you're remodeling a house or buying a new house for that matter. One of the most important things you're going to have to consider is how are you going to furnish the house. A lot of people just go to a furniture store and just buy a whole room of furniture, have it delivered to the house and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with that. But there are those who have a more eclectic taste. They want to gather elements from various design schools of thought. So they will probably find themselves buying used furniture. What you want to look for, first of all is where you're going to find it. The most common thing you're going to find is a local thrift store. They're everywhere. Every town in America has thrift stores. And you'll find furniture of various quality at your local thrift store. The nice thing about that is that you can go in one day and look around and find nothing that's of any interest to you at all, but they're constantly updating their inventory and it's never the same thing. So you come back next week. There's a whole new batch of furniture. Eventually you're going to find something that's going to work with you or a design scheme. Another great resource now online is Craigslist. It's a wonderful place to find used furniture. What you want to make sure of is that the object that you're looking at is in your price range, but never be afraid to bargain with somebody. They might be asking a thousand dollars, but they might take five hundred. You never know. Antique sales. There are great antique warehouses, huge warehouses that have antique furniture for sale. Now, you may find that as a home remodeler, you may find a piece of furniture that doesn't look quite right. You like the shape of it, but it doesn't look like you want it, you can refinish it. You can turn something, maybe something broken into a part of another design element that's really going to tie your house together. Think about that."
