If you want to lower your electric bills through higher energy efficiency, there are a number of ways that you can do this. If you are the homeowner, what you want to do is take a look around and just think it out. Think out where your power is being used at the highest rate. For a lot of us it's an older refrigerator, maybe you have an older air conditioning system. A lot of people have a window unit in each room of the house or in several rooms of the house. They're not known for their energy efficiency. If you do happen to have that sort of a system and you're in a lets say an apartment or a condominium where you can't install a central air unit, you'll want to have the highest efficiency air conditioning unit you can find. The older they are, the less efficient they're going to be. So take a look at what your efficiency rating is and do your homework and then take that information to your local home appliance store and compare what you have to what's available. Now you may find a new unit, it may cost you several hundred dollars but if you consider how much less you're spending in electric bills over the course of a summer or two summers or five summers or however long the lifespan of the unit is, you will easily that you can save a lot more money then you're spending. So other things you can do are make sure that your, that all of your doors and windows are well insulated. Now that believe it or not is huge. A lot of people don't realize how much energy they're losing through improperly insulated doors and windows. Very important to take a look at that. Your water heater is a big one because what happens is your water heater heats up all that water and stores it in that big tank. Now if that tank is not properly insulated, all that's going to happen is the water that sits in there is going to cool off and you're going to lose all that energy. So take a look around your house and make sure that the articles that you're using are the highest efficiency you can find.
