"You want to decide on a plan to quit smoking and so that may be that you are going to quit cold turkey and you are not going to use any kind of drugs or any kind of supportive counseling. Most people are going to want to have some other kind of plan in place and that may be tapering off but you are going to set a quite date and lead into that quit date. You are going to smoke fewer and fewer cigarettes each day. You could use the nicotine replacement therapy. That could be something like the nicotine patch or nicotine gum which are over the counter medicines. You can also get a prescription from your doctor from a nasal spray or an inhaler, a nicotine inhaler that is going to kind of allow you to slowly wean yourself off of that nicotine. You may want to look into a support group. There are different support groups in the community, smoking cessation classes that you can actually attend in person then of course there are telephone cessation groups and online chat groups that you can be involved in to help you quit smoking as well."
