"Hi I'm Dr. Larry Klein, I'm a dentist in St. Petersburg, Florida. And a common question that we get is how long does it take to become a dentist. A real good question, pretty simple to answer. You go to graduate from high school, you have to make good grades. And then you go to an accredited college, and you can study anything that you want to. Different sciences, biology, chemistry, but it really doesn't matter. You can do computer or anything else, psychology. Get a degree and then you need to go to dental school. Dental schools herein the U.S. are a four year program. And involve the first two years of book study, and then two years of clinical study. If you want to be a specialist after that, there is further training after that that can go from anywhere from one year for a residency up to four years for an oral surgeon sometimes.
