"Hi I'm Dr. Larry Klein, I'm a dentist here in St. Petersburg, Florida. We're going to answer a little question about what is a dental technician. A dental technician is someone who helps the dentist basically make teeth. So the dentist will get things prepared and write out a lab slip as to what he wants the dental lab tech to perform, and then the dental lab technician is responsible for providing that service. He may be the person that is making a denture for people that don't have any teeth. He may be the one also another thing that he will do is make crowns. Which basically fit around the tooth, and basically restore a tooth to proper function. If people are missing multiple teeth he may do a bridge, which basically connects one tooth to the next, and provides a chewing surface and restores a persons bite. He also can do things like partials when people don't have all their teeth, but still have some teeth. So these are basically makes false teeth. Also does retainers for different types of pedodontics or orthodontics. So there are many things that a dental technician will do.
