How to Take Care of Chinchillas

"Hi this is Jennica from Pet Planet in Riverton, Utah. We're going to be talking about how to take care of a chinchilla. The first thing is basically you just need to clean their cage out once a week, make sure that they are always clean. You can give them a dust bath or just get a bowl or something like this, throw a little dust in there, and they roll around in it, it gets them clean. You don't want to give them a water bath, because they will lose their hair. Give them fresh food and water every day, you also want to give them a little bit of Timothy hay at least once a week, it helps them digest their food and get more minerals. And then also you want to give them something to chew on, they do like to chew on things. Because their teeth are constantly growing, so you have to have something to chew on for the teeth to get sawed down. Chinchillas need a big enough space, if they don't have a big enough space then they need more exercise out of their cage. If you don't want to let them run around in your house you can actually get them a little flying saucer wheel, it helps them get exercise.
