"Hi this is Jennica from Pet Planet in Riverton, Utah. We are going to be talking about how to breed a chinchilla. Breeders usually breed chinchillas in a colony kind of. They actually have different cages and have one female in each cage because if there is more than one they actually tend to fight. The female chinchillas is actually tethered to the cage that she is in so that she cannot escape and a male is able to run free into whichever cage he feels free to go into and will actually breed with the female and then if the female gets aggressive then he can leave the cage whenever he feels necessary. Chinchillas will actually breed all year round but the best mating time season is actually from November to May is the best time. They actually when they do have their babies, the babies as soon as they are born are actually able to hop around and feed themselves and water themselves but they still need to be with their mom. The weaning period is about six to eight weeks. If you have any more questions please contact us at petplanetriverton@gmail.com."
