"Hi my name is Jennica from Pet Planet in Riverton, Utah. I will be talking about chinchillas and how they can lose their hair. One of the ways that chinchillas can lose their hair is actually by called slip fur, and it is by handling the chinchilla too much or handling it roughly can actually cause it to pull the fur out. There is also, if they get a behavior problem they will actually chew their fur out of their body. It will grow back it just takes a while for them to get stress released and then there is also because of humidity or a lot of water if it gets on the fur it can also make them lose their hair. Heat stroke can be another reason why they lose their hair loss. If they do end up getting heat stroke their temperature will be really high. You want to either mist them with cold water or give them a cold water bath. When you do spray or mist them or give them a water bath they will lose their hair a little but it will grow back. On the stress they will also if they get too stressed out they will lose their hair and usually when they get used to you more they will start to grow it back and shed a little bit less.
