"If you're interested in being in the fashion industry, probably a great place to start is to be a stylist. A stylist is something that you can do in any town. There are always women that are looking to have that competitive edge as far as having the newest look and being able to attain that look and put that look together. So that's one career that I think is very attainable in any area that you're in. There are many many careers within the industry. There is visual display. Those are also careers that you could have in just about any town. Of course aside from fashion designers, there's also, independent fashion designers that is, you can be on a design team, maybe working for a large label and you'll have a creative director who puts all of your ideas together to create one look, which is something that usually happens in larger cities, but is definitely a very gratifying position in the fashion industry, especially if you're young and just starting out to see how your personal contributions can be seen on such a large scale. There's also buyer in the fashion industry. A lot of people who are starting out in the fashion industry really gravitate towards this position. It does seem very glamorous. It seems like something that everyone would want to do. It is a very very hard industry to get into. One benefit of it is that a lot of larger companies do have buyer programs, so they will train you, put you in the position, but you certainly have to work very hard to stay in that position and continue to advance within that specific line of work within the fashion industry. Another position that you can have would be creative director as I mentioned before. That is something that is earned through lots and lots of hard work. You could be the fashion editor, fashion director. Really the list goes on and on because the fashion industry is so huge and it effects everyone. Everyone knows something about it. There are lots of small jobs. Stylist on sets of movies is another great job. Costume designers is a fabulous job that a lot of designers, a lot of aspiring designers don't think about when in reality it's an amazing job where you really get to stay true to the art form."
