"Fashion portfolios can generally contain up to twelve different designs because usually a collection will be twelve looks or twelve pieces. I certainly recommend putting your most impressionable pieces in that. It can go as far as even having samples of the fabric that you choose to use. What you want to put in your fashion portfolio will be anything that's going to really portray the idea, the feeling of your line. So you definitely want to have some type of write up that gives, that encompasses kind of where your mind was when you created the line, your inspirations, what you hope for for the line, what you envision for the line, but I always personally feel that it's an excellent choice to also include in your fashion portfolio samples of the fabric, so they can actually feel and touch them. And the better your portfolio looks, the better first impression you're libel to make. I think that most artist should always keep an ongoing portfolio. So my personal portfolio has work going back as far as 2000 and it is ever-evolving and something that I constantly work on so if I'm in the situation where someone is asking me to summarize ten years of work, it's a lot easier to hand them a book that is a well comprised summary of that ten years of work. So it shows from the beginning to the end. It has my highlights. It's a snapshot of your career, and it's often easier to express that in a portfolio than it is in a summary of words."
