"If you're using ginger tea as a medicinal agent, you always want to go with fresh ginger, as it has much better anti-oxidant qualities. And do not use sugar when you're drinking it for medicine. Ginger tea has been used by cultures all over the world to fight off colds, sore throats and indigestion. Here are a couple of ways, very easy ways to make ginger tea. First, get some fresh ginger root, you're going to want to peel off the outer skin or bark, if you will. Once you have it peeled, cut yourself some long strips. And try to make the strips cut in such a way that they're somewhat near the same size. From this point, you can either boil some water in a saucepan. Put the strips of ginger into the boiling water and let them sit for ten fifteen minutes, until you get a nice little color. Or you can pour boiling water into a tea pot, put the ginger into the teapot and let it steep for fifteen to twenty minutes. If you're using ginger tea as a medicinal agent, you always want to go with fresh ginger as it has much better anti-oxidant qualities. And do not use sugar when you're drinking it for medicine."
