What Is a Fashion Photo Stylist?

"Hi, I'm Rebecca Guenther with m5a1photography.com and I'm going to tell you what a fashion photo stylist does. What a fashion photography stylist does is they will go and pull clothing or accessories or sometimes even furniture or background decorations for a photo shoot. What their job is, is to go to stores. Sometimes they work for the store and they will pull for a photo shoot. Sometimes they're hired by the photographer to go to multiple store or even just one store and pull whatever the look is for the photo shoot. So, they usually have very close working relationships with many stores in town so that the stores know them. So, they can go in and run the credit card and take the clothes on loan for a day for a photo shoot and then bring them back after the photo shoot and ideally not have to pay for the clothes. You know usually then the stores will get a clothing credit or a credit in the actual on the photographs if they're running in a magazine. They're also going to be in charge of making sure that the clothes look good on the model. They're going to make sure that the right accessories go with the right looks. They're going to make sure that the model at all points in time the clothes look good. Fit well and are moving right. Very often, they will step in for the photographer and adjust the clothes on the model. It's their job to make sure that everything in the scene pertaining to clothes, accessories or background looks exactly how the photographer wants it to look and that's what a photo stylist does."
