"Hi this is Athena Reich and I'm an actress, singer, songwriter and performing arts coach here in New York City. There are many types of Broadway plays. There's traditional musical theater such as Guys and Dolls, 42nd Street, there's contemporary musical theater such as Wicked, Legally Blond. There's rock musicals like Spring Awakening and Rent. Pop musicals like Lion King. There's really avant guard hip hop musicals like In the Heights, very funky ones like Passing Strange. And then there's Broadway shows that aren't even musicals, straight theater like Hedda Gobbler or the Goat and these are straight plays where there's no singing or dancing but it's all acting and this is all of the people in the situation. There's even shows on Broadway that are one person shows. Sometimes Elaine Stritch did a one woman show and was all about her life years ago. So there can be one person show and they might dance or actressing. Old time music from the 1930's all the way up to present."
