"Hi this is Athena Reich and I'm an actress, singer, songwriter and performing arts coach here in New York City. A concert promoter promotes a music event. In order to become a concert promoter you need to network and connect with a music event in your town. You could actually connect with a festival, maybe there's a folk festival in the summer and see if they're hiring or looking for any interns. And that would be a great way to be a promoter if you can't, if it's just really hard to find a job in the industry so if you can't do that, start create your own music event. Maybe a monthly singer songwriter series or a weekly punk night. Find the niche, decide what the niche is. I'm doing folksingers or I'm doing the blues or I'm doing punk, figure out what the niche is, contact the press, target your audience and work, work, work to get people into see the show. Do whatever it takes. Facebook, MySpace, I don't care, get people out."
