"Hi I'm Donna Barnes, life and relationship coach here in New York City and the author of It's All About You. In this clip we'll talk about how to get a girlfriend in middle school. And I know this can be a really hard thing for boys to have to get the courage up to go talk to a girl but know this, that girl is just as insecure and shy as you are but she probably wants you to come and talk to her, so if that helps. Secondly confidence is really attractive no matter what age you're at and especially in middle school there's not a whole lot of that going around so if you can stand up straight and walk down the hall with your head held high and look at people and smile and engage with them, then that will give you a lot of confidence and it will be very attractive to girls. So next thing to do if there's a girl you like, start talking to her. I think it's tempting to be nasty to her, be mean to her and somehow just to kind of provoke a reaction to her without being vulnerable but put it out there that you like her. But that's not going to endear her to you, that's going to make her not like you. So be friendly, walk up say hi, if you can learn a little something about her, if you know what kind of music she likes or what she likes to do and maybe invite her to the movies. Everybody likes to go to the movies and that's kind of a harmless thing, maybe you can have her meet you there even, her parents can drop her off, your parents could drop you off and just say hey would you love to go see this great movie, like whatever is out that you think she might be interested in, really try to become her friend first is the best way to open the door. And if she seems to enjoy like being your friend, she starts saying hello to you in the hallways and things like that, then that's when to ask her if she's like to go to the movies. Or if there's anything else, if there's a school dance coming up then that's a perfect time, she if she'd like to go to the dance with you and just remember keep your confidence up, feel good about yourself, she'll want to talk to you. This is Donna Barnes from New York City."
