"This is Dr. Loretta Ciraldo. Board certified dermatologist and author of "Six Weeks to Sensational Skin." Patients do ask if they might find help to acne scars or stretch marks from rubbing potato juice on to them, and actually although potato juice probably cannot help with stretch marks, it does sometimes help both with active acne and also in lessening the appearance of acne scars. You can take the potato and either cut it in half and rub it on or make a paste out of chopped potatoes in the blender because potato really is a natural astringent, and good antibacterial, if you rub on a topical potato juice, you may find that your acne scars which are made up in large part of dead cells may actually appear much better, or in certain cases, I have had patients who've told me that their active acne gets better, and because it's inexpensive, very affordable and just might work, some people will give it a try."
