"If you've got a bride who is the girlie-est of girlie-girls, then you may want to know how to host a tea party themed bridal shower. This is the ultra feminine event. It's all about delicious teas, tiny cakes, sandwiches with no crust, that kind of thing. There are a couple of ways you can do this type of shower, in your home or you can go out. High tea is served at many hotels nowadays, so look around, some of the nicer hotels in the area, see if they're offering that. A lot of cities actually have tea houses as well and you can take all the girls out and go there. You don't have to worry a thing about decorations or the feel of it, it's all taken care of for you. If you do want to recreate that type of environment in your home, the key word to keep in mind is feminine. This is an ultra-feminine shower and you want to use lots and lots of flowers, and fragrances. Get a variety of teas. There's an item I love, it's called a blooming tea pot. It's a clear glass teapot with a tight, tight ball of flowers that when you drop inside the tea pot, the flowers bloom visibly creating a beautiful effect, and it actually creates consumable tea. Two birds, one stone. I love that idea. Lots of flowers, lots of choices of tea, cakes, like I said, little sandwiches, the food is usually very, very delicate. A great idea for favors for this type of shower, you can find at your local thrift store or vintage store, little tea cups and saucers. The kind maybe Grandma used to have. Delicate china, little tiny flowers or birds painted on them, these are usually very reasonably priced. Buy a collection of these for your guests. You can serve the tea in them, they can drink out of them and then clean them and send them home with them, or you can give them away wrapped up in a little bag as a favor. An outside of the box twist on tea party, if you want to have a little fun with it, take it to a little bit of a different area would be to go Alice in Wonderland, Mad-Hatter. Get rid of all those flowers and work with bright colors, odd shapes and sizes, and carry that kind of theme through. It's still a tea party, it's a lot of fun! Oh! Finger didn't stay out!"
