"My name is Tanya Batts and I'm with Physique Designs. Today, I want to talk to you about steam rooms and the effects that they have on the body. First, a steam room is moist heat, temperatures ranging from a hundred and ten to about a hundred-fourteen degrees Fahrenheit with almost one hundred percent humidity. When a person enters a steam room, they're going to get warm really quick. So the steam and the heat kind of creates an artificial fever, so in turn, that kind of increases the body's circulation. Kind of helps the body repair processes kick up. It's going to increase the body cell metabolism and also, another great thing that a steam room can do is dilate the blood vessels. What that's going to do is actually lower your blood pressure. However, you do not want to enter a steam room if you have incredibly high or incredibly low blood pressure. You want to enter a steam room with a clean towel and flip-flops because there's microbes which means maybe athlete's foot or some fungus on the floor because you're going to be sweating a lot and you're going to be sweating out all those toxins. Make sure wear the flip-flops because of all the microbes on the floor, we're talkin' fungus and athletes foot. However, you do not want to enter a steam room if you've taken any medication for epilepsy, high blood pressure, antibiotics, or any stimulants such as alcohol or tranquilizer, and that's the effects of a steam room on the body."
