Hi! I'm Brian with ericksontutoring.bloodspot.com. Today were going to discuss bioorganic molecules. So, bio or bios is a Greek prefix meaning living or life. So, the bio part means it referring to life and then organic, organic is where that's usually used in chemical terms to refer to compounds, molecules that contain the element, carbon. So, versions of some organic molecules include proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, all those sorts of things. So, if we put those two together, bioorganic molecule is simply an organic molecule that's found in living things. Really, my examples of organic molecules, there were also examples of bioorganic molecules because the ones I used are found in living things. So, bioorganic chemistry is a pretty new field that sort of a fusing of biology and chemistry. It's like in a biological systems, biological organisms at a molecular level. So, it's trying to understand how the molecular chemistry impacts the organisms that we see and the behavior that we see as well. So, this was a brief discussion of what a bioorganic molecule is.
