How to Kill Crabgrass in Your Flower Beds

"Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about how to kill crabgrass in your flower beds. Now crabgrass just grows out of control and it's really invasive and it looks terrible in your lawn and in your flower beds. And it's different than regular grass because it grows out more like a crab and flat out instead of straight out. And so when it's in your flower beds it really looks obnoxious and you want to get rid of it. So the easiest way to get rid of your crabgrass is to pull it out by hand. There's really no easy way. You an also take boiling water, hot boiling water right on the crabgrass and that'll burn it. A little bit of vinegar or a bleach will kill it as well. But if it's a larger area too, by putting some compost on top of that crabgrass, and planting perennials that are going to come back year after year, in to that compost, You're going to shade it out and push it out. So my theory is you want to pack your flowerbeds with flowers, not crabgrass. And by pushing the crabgrass out and not giving it any room to grow, you will find that you will have a beautiful flower bed without any crabgrass."
