"Hi we're here to answer the question can I take my pet's medical expenses as a deduction on my taxes? Well the answer is probably no, you can't unless you happen to be a breeder. If you're a breeder and you are doing this as a business and your pet happens to be part of the business and you are using it for stud fees or you are generating stud fees based on your pet and that sort of thing then yes the medical expenses would be deductible but just strictly as a pet, no your medical fees are not deductible. The other exception would be for a seeing eye dog or an animal for a visual or hearing impaired individual. If that is the cost you can deduct the cost of acquiring and maintaining and keeping those animals."
