Drying Flowers

"Hi I'm Karen Rodowicz with JK Flowers and I'm here to show you how to dry some flowers. The best thing to do is pick your flowers when they are in full bloom or either right before they are ready to bloom so you have different stages. I'm going to show you here with some roses. As you can see they are still just starting to open. What you do is you take your roses, you group them all together and you are going to want to wind up tying them upset down so you are going to take some cord, ribbon, whatever you have that you are going to tie it up, you are going to wrap them up and once you are done you are going to hang them upside down in a cool dry place whether it be a garage or an attic and then in about one to three weeks they should start drying out. Your best colors for dried flowers are the darker colors whether it be dark pinks, reds, blues, they tend to hold their colors better. Whites and yellows tend to get a little bit on the brownish side and once they are finished drying after your three weeks you can spray your flowers with either a little bit of hair spray or a little bit of lacquer to keep them in the luster and to keep them together.
