"So much for the sweater you knitted. Oh, hi I'm Teri Lynne and in this segment I am going to show you how to write a thank you note for a gift. There is a few important things to keep in mind. I was just writing one for my dear Aunt Sally for the awesome sweater she knitted me at Christmas. Now one thing handwritten is always the best. E-mails still not appropriate for gifts, make sure you do a handwritten, it is much more personable. Second of all be prompt in your response to your gift so two weeks to a month is about the longest you want to wait after receiving a gift to write a thank you note or a thank you card for a gift. Any longer than that is a little bit tacky and thirdly be specific don't just say hey Aunt Sally, thanks for the gift, loved it, Terry, Um um, come from the heart. I might say something like Dear Aunt Sally, thank you so much for the sweater you knitted me at Christmas. It kept me warm during those cold winter nights. In fact I have even included a picture to show you how it kept me warm on one of those chilly night walks that I like to take. Thanks again Aunt Sally, Your Favorite Niece, Teri. Something like that is going to mean a lot more to Aunt Sally than thanks for the gift, Teri. So remember be prompt, handwritten is best and be specific and that is how you write a proper thank you note for a gift."
