"Rokosz, your digital lifestyle expert here and we are discussing LEDs they're everywhere now. But what the heck are they? What does it mean? Well LED led lighting as it's very base stands for light emitting diode. Light emitting diode. It doesn't admit anything it emits it. They started back in the late seventies, early eighties, and we saw them in they were just sort of indicators. They were the blinking lights that let you know something was powered up or powered down. And that was pretty much it. They've had very low lumen's or didn't give off a lot of light. They glowed themselves but didn't throw a lot of light. And then they moved into our alarm clocks, remember those red alarm clocks. Those were LED lights. Now guys we live in a LED society. They're in traffic lights, they're in tail lights, they're in trucks, they're on buses, they're in houses. Right here we got an LED that's a flashlight. Well why, because they've come up a long way and now you can actually really light something up with an LED bulb. In some cases they can be super bright. Some of their other advantages are they use very little power. Very little power. Also they can be keyed up to produce a lot of light, a lot of lumen's and you can decide what kind of colors. Now back in the day you had only red. And then red and green. Now you can see here there's a lot of primary colors that they've come up with. And it all depends on what metal goes on the tip of the end of the diode. The diodes are semiconductors but just like the metals when you put them into fireworks, they burn at different colors and that's how we get that here. When we heat them up well I heat them up with electricity that is, they will burn in different colors. Now here in the back screen here you are seeing something that's used as an LED sign board. These red lights here have the ability to change to different colors because the LEDs are microminis. You can see just the little light spot there but tends to light up the whole circle. You will also see some little tiny holes where another color can come into place. Now this LED light here which is a theatrical light, you can see that it's made up of well our favorite three colors, red, blue, and green. RGB, that's what makes up a red, blue and green. Those colors make up all the colors that you see on your television. All the colors that you see on monitors, red,blue and green. If you look back at an old projection TV what you'll see is that they are break, you know that back there are three different projectors in here. This color if you can see here is actually a turquoise because of how these are mixed together. Looking into it you can see the individuals but the light that it casts is of a different color. So LEDs they're everywhere oh by the way, these bulbs they've got about a hundred thousand hour burn time, put that up against your incandescent light.
