"Hey! It's Rokosz, your digital lifestyle expert here, and we're talkin' about, what is a dual layer DVD? Well, first of all, let's talk about DVD. We know them from playing music and video, and our favorite movies. Well, DVD is originally thought to be a digital video disc or digital versatile disc. They went from digital video disc to digital versatile disc when they realized that, well, DVDs could also be used to play or to store rather, photographs and digital files, as well as music, not just video. But in reality, when they really came out with the press release announcing it, they actually did not make any reference to or about whether the fact that DVD actually stands for anything. So, keep that in mind. Dual layering is exactly as it sounds, it is very thin disc, there is a, there is a metal film that's protected by the polycarbonate core in substrate, polycarbonate substrate, a tri-metal plating inside of it and then you got your protective layer that we see that's kind of a plastic on the outside, alright, there is actually two layers. Now, when they first came out, when it went to the second layer, it kind of studdard and stopped, and people thought, we were worried that, you know, actually it was defective or not working, it simply has to access that second layer. Now lately, they can seem mostly go from layer to layer, that was able to jump up from 4.7 gigs on a regular standard DVD up to 8 and change gigs on a dual layer. Now, there is the next generation which is the double-sided dual layer, which can give you up to 14 gigs a bytes of storage, which is a pretty significant, pretty significant amount of storage on the disc. So, DVDs as we talk about them, too, in the dual layering, they can be DVD-ROM, they can be DVD-ROM, DVD RW, either DVD-RW or DVD RW, and readable and writable discs. When you're reading and writing dual layers, they're good for up to a thousand times, about a 30 years span as far its minimal reliability is reported to be, or just at the time I guess when the first, the first one of those single and two layer can really decide it's been about 30 years now, see if they're starting to degradate or not. But, it does remain to be an excellent way to, for volt or storage, or ROM storage of movies, discs, music or any other media that you want. So, keep that in mind. Remember, dual layer discs, roughly twice as storage, one layer and then two layer and then me, Rokosz, your digital lifestyle expert, sayin', stream you later!"
