"Hey it's Rokosz, your digital lifestyle expert here, the question has been posed to me, when was the the first CD player invented. We know it was introduced on October 1, 1982. The CDP 101 by Sony was introduced at the price of only nine hundred and ninety-four dollars. But, it was invented back in 1979, doesn't seem right. A young digital lifestyle expert got his at nineteen ninety for Christmas, so there is a bit of a gap mostly on funds available. You see what I am saying, it took only three or four years to bring it to market. It was a joint venture between Sony and Phillips to come up with an optical display. Seventies, early eighties they realized that digital was the future, and we needed to find a way to greatly reproduce, or more faithfully reproduce the full dynamic sound of audio. After that, like I say, in 1979, the first one was invented and came out and was brought to market just a few years later. It changed the world, and actually Sony embarked on a little adventure to every ten years change or reinvent how we listen to music. Exactly ten years later after the '82 announcement or release rather of the CDP 101, Sony released the MD Z1U, which was the new mini disc format. Which unfortunately, was to go into the annals of Sony's legends like the home Betamax tape. But you can't win them all, Sony has done some wonderful things for us including the CD, then with Phillips in 1979. It's Rokosz, your digital lifestyle expert, going back to the future with you."
