"The question is: What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a veterinarian technician? Let's talk about the disadvantages first, and that is the reality of the job itself. Veterinary medicine is very stressful. It can be very, very busy constantly. And other disadvantages would be going along with what you're seeing. You may be seeing things that you are not used to seeing or not want... or not comfortable seeing, such as injured animals, especially, you know, young animals and things like that can be very difficult sometimes to deal with. Other disadvantages are when dealing with euthanasia, dealing with people as well, when it comes to euthanasia. It can be very trying, and very hard on some people, and so it's very... it can be very sad, obviously, because you'll know some of these animals for years, and then end up being there when they're euthanized. You also have to be in the place of consoling or, at least, you know, helping people work through these things or answer questions when it comes to euthanasia as well. Now, another disadvantage, of course, is injury. We are constantly...we constantly have to be safe when we're working with animals, whether it's a dog or a cat or a bird or a snake. They can all damage you. They all don't want to be examined. Most of them don't want to be here and are very frightened or injured. So you have to be very careful for that. So injuries are a possible disadvantage as well. However, there are a lot of advantages. One is doing what you love, which is working with animals. It's a fantastic rewarding type of field to be in. You're constantly dealing with animals that are, you know, growing and puppies and things like that, and it's just a wonderful thing to be able to deal...to deal with, and it's a wonderful reward to know that you've helped an animal. So there are lots of advantages as well as some disadvantages."
