One of the more common questions we're getting now a days is how I take my old VHS tapes of home movies and transfer them to a DVD. We have a couple of great options for you here and what I'm going to do is show you how to transfer utilizing a digital capture device. The first thing that you're going to want to think about is making sure that you have a RCA cable. You'll see that the yellow video and the red and white audios are going to need to be hooked in to the back of your VHS player. And you would just want to match the colors up; yellow to yellow, red to red and white to white. So when connecting your RCA cables to your VCR, you're going to notice a lot of different options on the back. You're going to want to make sure that you choose the video or audio out section to plug the cables in to. Whatever capture device you're utilizing will also have these ports on. And then you going to want to just take the other end of the cable and match the colors just the same. Now you're ready to record. Once you hit play on your VHS player, you're just going to want to make sure you hit record on the capture device or press record if you're utilizing a computer capture device to capture the information. And then that will start the transfer. Whether you're utilizing a digital video recorder like this that has a LCD screen externally or you're utilizing your computer monitor screen, you can capture all the action that you're taping and choose when you'd like to start and stop the recording again.
